What it’s made of.
How appliqué works
Appliqué is my signature, and it’s more involved than plain embroidery. I machine-stitch a fabric shape down to the sham, hand-cut it free with small scissors, then run a satin stitch around every edge so nothing frays. The result has real dimension — a raised, ribbon-smooth letter you can feel.
I digitize many of my own letterforms in Embrilliance and StitchArtist, so the monogram sits right for your initials rather than a stock template.
Fabric & thread
The sham is Michael Miller Cotton Couture — a dense, smooth quilting-weight cotton solid. Quick Ship pieces are stitched on ivory; Custom pieces can be any of the 230 Cotton Couture colors, with welting to match or contrast.
I match thread to fabric by eye, working from Madeira, Isacord, Sulky, and Exquisite lines to get the exact tone right.
Size & fill
Finished sham measures about 20 × 20 inches with an envelope back. Insert availability is a placeholder — confirm with Edelweiss.
Care
Care instructions are a placeholder pending confirmation. As a general guide for appliqué cotton, gentle cold wash and low heat protect the stitching — but please confirm before relying on this.
